I hosted a poll at the end of October asking if you would be interested in seeing some sort of monthly update journal from me just to kinda see what's been going on behind the scenes and whatnot. Voter turnout wasn't huge or anything, but the vast majority of those who came and shot their opinion over said to go for it, so here it is. I'm awkward and don't really talk about myself very much so please excuse me while I try my best to ease into this.
On the tail end of October's closing doors, Talon and I ended up going to the Cemetery of Sound show here in Calgary which was pretty damn cool if I do say so myself. What was especially great (in my opinion) was the time frame in which the show ran- 21:00-06:00, and if you're shit at math, that equates to nine hours of pure loud music, flashing lights, and wicked costumes worn by fellow patrons. Since I work night shifts along with the type of city I live in, it's not often I actually have something I can do on my nights off that don't involve sitting inside killing time or going out for a walk or jog with no clear destination since everything aside from the Petro and the McDonalds is closed. There were a wide range of artists there too, some of the most notable (aka my favourites) were Mr. Kristopher, Illenium, KSHMR, and Radical Redemption.
At the beginning of the month, a co-worker and I headed down to the vape shop a few blocks from the closest train station. He had just turned 18 near the end of October and he had been wanting to get a vape, and I told him I'd take him when we both had the chance to go. I ended up grabbing a new mod for my bit, the GeekVape Aegis, and I'd say it works pretty nicely. It was a little more expensive than I had anticipated, but definitely worth it in my opinion.
With Ink/Goretober done and over with, I intend to actually colour my drawings unlike the last couple of times I made a bunch of lined drawings and never did anything with them afterward. I've already posted the first one and I've got the second one completed and sitting idly on my laptop. I've been making a point of bringing my traditional art supplies to work with me so I can work on some drawings while I take my break. I've got far too many sketchbooks to keep track of and I'm trying to actually use them before getting more (which I can't seem to stop doing).
Over the course of October through to now, we've been getting waves of snowfall and snow-melt. One may not know this, but in Alberta, seasons are a social construct and aren't actually real. This has really been cutting into my cycling season, as bicycle is my main mode of transportation to and from work, friends, and pretty much anywhere else between the months of Maypriljune-ish to Septobvember-or-so. Unfortunately this was quite literally cut short for me as some dickhead thought it'd be funny to cut the breaks on my bike while I was at work one night. The general consensus of the staff I work with was he likely wanted the bike, couldn't fucker the lock, and so as revenge he cut the breaks. "If I can't ride it, neither shall you," I suppose was what ran through his mind.
Even though Cannabis was officially made legal in mid to late October, I hadn't had the chance to grab some of that good sticky green stuff for myself until earlier this month. A little dispensary opened up in my neighbourhood strip mall a couple of weeks after the legalization date had come and gone. Too bad I couldn't party that night, it was grocery night and both night staff have to be there in order for things to run smoothly. I am actually very upset with the fact that this little store could not get the 420 address as that was taken by this motherfucking shawarma restaurant that sat beside it and opened up only a few weeks prior, so they had to settle with block 424 next door. I'm sure the shawarma is delicious, but come on guys. On this little venture, I also picked up a Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 from the music store
